Damien Hirst at the Tate Modern

Tate modern exhibition!


This is a much anticipated exhibition for me as I have been fascinated with Hirst's work since my art teacher back in GCSE's showed me his Mother and Child Divided, a four-part sculpture of a bisected cow and calf suspended in formaldehyde. His work is undoubtedly one of most recognised for a living artist, and certainly reaping the benefits of his fame and fortune.

I had actually come across a documentary "The great contemporary art bubble" that explains why Artists such as Hirst have been such a success.


The exhibition will include such works as the ever famous "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living  1991"(below) amongst an array of other former art pieces.

Really great illustrated lectures!

I was introduced to these illustrated lectures a while back, they have recently come back into my life and I feel very strongly about the message that is being put forward!

The Faberge big egg hunt!!

Im gutted that I cant be in the UK for this at the moment!

The Faberge big egg hunt consists of 210 egg sculptures hidden around London. All of which are uniquely made by top Artists and Designers.

These are then auctioned off for 'Action for children' and 'Elephant family' charities!

My eye is on the Mary Katrantzou and Where's wally eggs!

My spies in London are on the hunt on my behalf...so far we have found 3!

The Living Wall

A russian street artist, Nikita Nomerz, makes derelict structures come alive by adding eyes and facial features.

He says: 

"I started in school with classic hip hop graffiti but became more interested in street art and began all sorts of experiments. Now basically I like to play with space and objects. I am inspired by the place itself. I love watching the city and finding an interesting point. Usually I do not spend so much time to create one work, sometimes less than an hour. But it all depends on the size of the object and my ideas" 

"It would be nice if people started paying more attention to what is around us."

The collection, André Studios 1930-1941

A new collection, André Studios, includes Fashion Drawings & Sketches taken from 1930-1941. These images have been taken from the Collections of the Fashion Institute of Technology and the New York Public Library. There are more than 5,000 original drawings open to todays designers.

“this site aims to inspire today’s designers while also documenting the significant role of New York’s fashion industry in the history of 20th-century fashion.”
